Chashitsu Kaboku

Tokyo

Run by famed Kyoto tea producer Ippōdō, which celebrated 300 years of business in 2017, this teahouse is a fantastic place to sample top-quality o-cha (green tea). It's also one of the few places that serves koicha (thick tea), which is even thicker than ordinary matcha (powdered green tea). Add on a seasonal wagashi (Japanese sweet, ¥440) or two.

Sit at the counter to watch the tea being prepared. Packaged teas and tea utensils are sold in the small, attached shop. You can also get tea to go (¥410 to ¥540), to sip as you stroll along Marunouchi's prettiest street, Naka-dōri.
