Nakamuraya Ryokan

Sapporo

Located on a side street near the entrance to the Hokkaidō University Botanical Garden, a 10-minute walk from JR Sapporo Station, this charming Japanese-style inn is a wonderful introduction to traditional hospitality. Sleeping is on futons on tatami floors and you can soak in the big communal o-furo (bath). The owner-managers are friendly and are used to foreign travellers.

Meals are available, too; enquire when booking. Be sure to read up on the inn's colourful beginnings on the website.
