The owner of this simple, family-run place is a keen traveller and extends a warm welcome to foreign guests. Rooms are tatami or Western, with shared facilities (including an onsen bath). All-round good value. Best if you have your own wheels – it's a 20-minute walk from JR Mashū Station.

From November to April add ¥300 per night for heat.
