One of Jamaica's most exciting social enterprise businesses, Deaf Can! operate this cafe to increase opportunities and visibility for Jamaica's deaf community. The coffee is excellent, the beans freshly roasted and the baristas welcoming. As well as the cafe, Deaf Can! operate a mobile trailer downtown, and help train staff for other local cafes including Cannonball and Toyota cafes.
You don't need to know Jamaican sign language to drink here, but you'll certainly come away knowing the sign for coffee – two fists on top of each other, with the top hand twisting clockwise above the bottom, in the manner of a grinder.
