L'Aura

Top choice in Spoleto

This B&B is a real home away from home, albeit one perched on top of a 200-year-old palazzo. It's a tidy, cosy place, with bright, wood-beamed rooms, original 16th-century brickwork and a terrace overlooking rooftops to the hills beyond. Your host, Claudia, makes you very welcome and gives excellent tips on Spoleto.

There's no lift, so be prepared to schlep your bags up the stairs (there are a few flights). And while there's no private parking, Claudia can give you a pass for parking on blue lines.
