Giuditta Brozzetti

Perugia

Inside a 13th-century Franciscan church, fourth-generation weaver Marta Cucchia is one of the few artisans still working with 19th-century Jacquard looms. Her extraordinary and fascinating workshop resurrects previously lost medieval and Renaissance textile styles and patterns – some seen in Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper – weaving them into everything from bookmarks and cushions to table runners and custom-made tablecloths.

Marta also leads guided group tours of the workshop, available in English on request.
