Once you make it to this lovely rural retreat you won't want to go anywhere in a hurry. Nestled in verdant countryside 9km west of Macerata, it offers spacious rooms decorated with original trappings like timber beams, flagstone floors and period furniture, and a long list of facilities including a spa, indoor pool and two restaurants.

The bountiful breakfasts, which feature homemade jams, breads and tarts, ensure a fine start to the day.

To reach Le Case, head north of Macerata to Villa Potenza, then follow the signs near the chapel.
