Osteria del Pozzo

Top choice in Ancona

Unless you've booked ahead, you'll be lucky to grab one of the cheek-by-jowl tables at this long-standing favourite. The big draw is its coveted seafood, washed down with inexpensive house wine and served in brisk, efficient style. Everything is good, but standouts include a millefoglie (mille-feuille) starter of baccalà (salt-dried cod) and puréed potato, and the oven-baked sea bass.

For a cheap taster, you can opt for a €13 fixed-price menu which includes a primo, secondo, salad or veggie side-dish, and water.
