You'll get a true feel for Siena's history in this 13th-century palazzo close to the Campo. Tiled floors, ornate lights and painted ceilings meet tones of yellow ochre and (suitably) burnt sienna. All of the rooms are charming, but we were particularly taken with the Stanza dei Paesaggi, which is named after the frescoed landscapes that decorate it.
There's also a lounge where you can relax over complimentary tea, coffee, Vin Santo and cantuccini (crunchy almond-studded biscuits).
