This extraordinary small hotel, a 15-minute drive from Merano, nestles high on a secluded mountainside at 1230m. Run by an incredibly vibrant young couple, the whole place exemplifies Südtirolean hospitality, relaxed but attentive to every detail. All rooms have awe-inspiring views, and it's not unreasonable to want to retreat entirely. But you'll be coaxed downstairs by the charming staff, wafts of delicious things appearing from the kitchen all day, the pool and spa, a sun terrace with lambskins and blankets, or a spot of 'forest therapy' in the nearby woods. The glass-walled Panorama restaurant also welcomes non-guests, and serves adventurous, beautifully presented dishes using local produce.
