It would be difficult to feel more deeply ensconced in the rural world. Off the Pian del Tivano, a high country plain some 7km from lakeside Nesso, this farm in dairy country offers four simple rooms. To the front of the house are views over thickly forested valleys, while behind, spring flowers carpet the slopes (where there are some swings for kids).

It lies 1km off the main road (look for Via Battista Longoni, opposite the helipad and sign to Albergo Dosso, 1.5km east of Zelbio). It serves meals, too (around €25 per person).
