Perched high above Lake Garda on the Strada del Ponale, the Belvedere lures in large consortiums of walkers and cyclists either because they’re too knackered to go any further, or because they can’t resist the view. There’s been a bar here for over a century, but the current incarnation comes equipped with a modern wooden deck offering views over the lake and two nearby waterfalls.
Food is of the snack variety and there’s a bike pump and maintenance station opposite should your tyres (as well as your legs) be flat. It’s a 40-minute walk south of Riva.
