Jonico-a Rutta 'e Ciauli

Syracuse

It's a long and not particularly enticing hike to this seafront restaurant, but once you're there you'll appreciate the effort. On warm days, the terrace is utter bliss, the sound of crashing waves below a suitable soundtrack to competent, regional dishes like spaghetti alla palermitana (with sardines, fennel, pine nuts and raisins) and orata all'arancia (sea bream cooked in orange juice).

Pizza is available at dinner only.
