Originally constructed by the Normans in the 11th century, Caccamo's clifftop castle is one of the most dramatically sited in all of Sicily. Beyond the castle's first gate, a ramp leads to a broad courtyard that gives access to the prisons, a chapel, a ragtag arms museum and several monumental, sparsely decorated rooms, from which you can enjoy magnificent views of the surrounding countryside.
