Trattoria Da Danilo

Monti, Esquilino & San Lorenzo

Da Danilo offers well-cooked Roman specialities served in rustic, atmospheric surrounds. It's renowned for its pasta cacio e pepe (pasta with caciocavallo cheese and pepper), which is served theatrically from a huge hulled cheese. The carbonara is also excellent. When booking (essential), specify a seat in the upstairs dining room and not the basement. Service can be rude.
