Alle Carrette

Top choice in Monti, Esquilino & San Lorenzo

Authentic pizza, super-thin and swiftly cooked in a wood-fired oven, is what this traditional Roman pizzeria on one of Monti's prettiest streets has done well for decades. Romans pile in here at weekends for good reason – it's cheap, friendly and delicious. All of the classic toppings are available, as well as gourmet choices such as anchovy and zucchini flower (yum!).

Consider beginning your local feast with some fried supplì (risotto balls) or baccalà (salted cod). The rear laneway seating is popular in summer.
