The Liberty

Monti, Esquilino & San Lorenzo

Newly opened, this boutique hotel occupies a handsome heritage villa designed in the Liberty style – Italy's version of art nouveau. Decor, service and facilities are all excellent, but the location in Rome's scruffy hostel precinct is unfortunate. That said, this place is cheaper than most boutique picks, and has draws including a garden, on-site parking and TVs with Netflix.

Low-season prices drop dramatically.
