Chiaja Hotel de Charme

Naples

This former marquis' residence is a period blend of gilt-framed portraits, restored original furnishings and elegantly draped curtains. Each room is unique, and those facing boutique-flanked Via Chiaia come with a bubbling hot tub. Interestingly, part of the property occupies a famous former side-street bordello, the so-called Casino di Salita Sant'Anna di Palazzo 3.

It was one of many case di tolleranza (houses of tolerance) in these backstreets, once the largest red-light district in Europe.
