An evening at this small but sweet, historical theatre is as much about admiring its pre-WWII, Rationalist architecture – it was built in 1940 for workers from the neighbouring Manifattura Tabbachi cigarette factory and has a fantastic glass tower illuminated blue after dark – as taking in a satirical play (in Italian), concert or alternative art performance.
After WWII it was used a dance hall and arena for boxing matches. To get here, take bus Nos 17, 29, 30 or 35 from Stazione Maria Santa Novella to the 'Piazza Puccini' stop – a 15-minute journey – or walk.
