Enoteca Regionale Emilia Romagna

Emilia-Romagna

Whose idea of shopping for wine in Italy doesn't involve a 13th-century medieval castle and a rigorous, six-member blind tasting board? This worth-a-detour wine shop is set in the former icehouse of the Rocca di Dozza in Dozza and represents 210 of Emilia-Romagna's best producers, counting nearly 1000 labels in its inventory. Lambrusco, Sangiovese, Pignoletto – it's all here.

You can taste as well, either from the self-serve Winemotion automatic dispensers (€1.20 to €6), or if you're travelling with a gaggle of oenophiles, you can book a three-wine (or more) tasting with a professional sommelier (€100 plus €11 per person). Dozza is off the Via Emilia (SS9) 40km southeast of Bologna.
