On the River Shannon's western bank, this mid-19th-century country pub draws on produce from the surrounding area: Roscommon lamb shanks with sweet potato mash, Longford sirloin with sautéed mushrooms, Leitrim goat's cheese tart with wild herbs and beetroot, and Shannon-caught trout with parsnip purée. Upstairs are 12 stylish sage- and olive-toned guest rooms, some with river-view balconies (double/family from €100/150).
Also overlooking the river is a sunny beer garden; if the weather's not cooperating, there's a glassed-in conservatory.
Kids' menus are available, along with baby cots; family rooms sleep four.
