Left Bank

Kilkenny City

This former Bank of Ireland building has been resurrected as undoubtedly the most eye-catching bar in town. Dating from the 1870s, the interior is magnificent, with original portico columns, carved-wood detail, exposed brick walls and chandeliers. On the 1st floor, its nightclub, LB2, opens from 11pm to 4am on Fridays and Saturdays.

Bar food (eg roast chicken) is served here, while its neighbouring sister restaurant, Rive Gauche, has more upmarket, French-inspired fare.
