Screebe House

Connemara

With just 10 rooms, the adult-only hunting and fishing lodge of Screebe House has an intimate, luxurious feel. A cobalt-tiled indoor swimming pool is the centrepiece of its spa; the tiny gourmet restaurant (dinner from €70) uses produce from the estate's grounds, including venison, duck and hare, as well as salmon and trout from its waterways.

It's located at Ros Muc (sometimes spelt Rosmuc), 60km west of Galway City.
