Nan-o-Namak

Southeastern Iran

Low-priced, good-quality meals see locals clamouring to order at this simple but not unattractive eatery: most people grab takeaways but there are takht (tea-beds) between a few decorative pots and artefacts if you want to dine there. Adas-polo (cumin-flavoured rice with lentils) costs just IR35,000 and is meat-free.

The location is well out of centre but handy if you're visiting the muddy rubble of the Qaleh Dokhtar castle zone.
