Tak-Taku Guesthouse

Top choice in Iran

English-speaking owner Mohammad Jalali and his family offer guests an authentic experience of Iranian hospitality with great charm and warmth. Their traditional house has rooms set around a courtyard and guests eat and sleep the Iranian way (ie on the floor). Eating the home-cooked dishes here is one of the culinary highlights of a visit to central Iran.

An interesting free walking tour around the village, and the use of bicycles, is included in the cost of accommodation, or guests can visit the local hammam (Thursday and Friday only). Also on offer are day trips to a salt lake (US$45) and camping expeditions to the sand dunes of the Varzaneh Desert (US$30 or US$65 for equipment, dinner and breakfast). Camel-riding trips at sunset and stargazing trips are other popular excursions.
