Cafe Abenbar

Top choice in Iran

Deep below a conical dome of concentric brick rings, this unique cafe in what was once its greatest underground cistern is the highlight of Garmsar. The atmosphere is low-lit and female-friendly. Espresso-based coffees (IR55,000 to IR70,000) are made on a La Cimbali machine (which cost 100 million rials!); they serve cakes and sundaes (IR65,000 to IR90,000), but no meals.

It's right in the centre of Garmsar, hidden away behind the Jameh Mosque.
