Onong’s Palace

North Sulawesi

More 'place' than 'palace', Onong's has large brick and bamboo bungalows with picture windows overlooking the village and valley that someone put a lot of love in to constructing, then neglected entirely. It's still a tranquil place to stay with hints at greatness – but cleanliness, maintenance and grounds keeping are not high on their priority list.

Follow the signs from ‘Kinilow’, about 5km before Tomohon, on the road to Manado. It's on a side road, a few hundred metres from the highway.
