Pulau Kayangan

Makassar

This tiny island, a 10-minute ride (return 40,000Rp) from Makassar harbourfront, was getting a much-needed facelift when we last visited. It's rammed with locals on Sundays and holidays but is pleasant enough to visit for a seafood meal the rest of the time. Until the new cottages are built, however, it's best not to plan an overnight at the formerly abandoned resort.
