Villa Domanik is bliss. On a hilltop outside Bajo, it has manicured gardens and a view of the Flores Sea from the pool. The three bungalows have outdoor bathrooms and wooden finishes, while a second, self-contained, two-bedroom villa is on the way. Food is a highlight, as is the sunset. In high season there's a two-night minimum stay.
'Domanik' is a Manggarai word meaning serendipity – and a play on the French owner's name, Dominique. The free shuttle into town between 7am and 9.30pm is necessary as Domanik can be hard to find. It's at the end of the first road on the right after the petrol station, heading south on the Trans-Flores Hwy past Pasar Baru and the official Pelni Office.
