With a sociable vibe thanks to its restaurant and attractive layout (rooms are scattered down the side of a valley), this is first choice for most travellers, despite steep prices and fairly low quality. Economy rooms are very small and gloomy, but they're neat and have access to a shared verandah and clean communal bathrooms fitted with hot showers.
More expensive rooms have little porches with great views and wood furniture. Cafe Lava Resto serves up reasonable Indonesian and Western food, and the breakfast buffet is the stuff of Bromo legends (non-guests can come for breakfast as well; 50,000Rp).
