Hotel Red Palace

Sikkim

Like an overgrown Darjeeling mansion but filled with Sikkimese detailing, this charming, very peaceful hotel has partly wood-panelled rooms in four categories (best value ₹2500) and lots of public sofa-spaces, plus a terrace area with bonfire pit and lovely valley views.

Access is 500m up the initially rocky lane that leads past Ngadhak Chongchub Choeling monastery. You'll need a torch at night.
