Laxmi Niwas Palace

Located 2km northeast of the city centre, this pink-sandstone, all-suite, hotel is part of the royal palace, dating from 1902. It has opulent interiors, and is set in large lovely grounds. Suites are very large, elegant, traditional and evocative, while the bar and billiards room contain more trophy skins from tigers than are probably still alive in Rajasthan. There are two excellent restaurants.
