Kaziranga's original (1987) resort is slightly ramshackle but retains a cheerful colonial character, especially in the large dining and sitting rooms. The bedrooms look their age style-wise but are still comfortable, with springy mattresses, and overlook trees or gardens. Bookings are essential in December and January. Turn off NH715 (old NH37) 5km east of Kohora opposite the Km373 stone, and go about 600m.
A tasty Indian and Assamese buffet lunch or dinner costs ₹200/300 for veg/non-veg.
