A fabulous three-storey French-run mansion and palace, once belonging to cousins of the Ladakhi royals. It's at once super comfortable, with memory-foam beds, a lovely stone terrace and light-touch luxurious interiors, while maintaining the spirit of the old building, with wobbly old floors, antique pillars and an upper-floor shrine room. Lovely.
Four rooms of varying sizes are in the old house, and there are seven immaculate, designer safari tents in the idyllic orchard garden. The fixed menu changes daily using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Yoga and mountain biking available. The house is 400m up the lane towards Chamba Gompa.
