Raju Ki Chai

Mumbai (Bombay)

It's nearly impossible to saunter past this tiny brick-and-mortar chai joint – its colourful facade and vibrant interiors lure you in like an industrial-strength magnetic kaleidoscope. Taking street chai to a welcoming new level without disregarding tradition, the concoctions here (₹35 to ₹50) are served in customary clay cups, but not discarded on the pavement as at street stalls.

Try the soothing kesari special chai (saffron masala tea), or the adrak (ginger) and lemongrass version, and you'll understand their motto: 'Piyo magar pyaar se' (Drink but with love). There's also non-milk teas, coffee and snacks.
