This award-winning, luxury homestay, the beautiful, spacious home of a couple who are experts in wildlife and travel, makes a great base for the park's southern sector. Between safaris you can sip a G&T and spot birds from the verandah, enjoy great home cooking (the owners have written cookbooks), dip into their fabulous library or wander around their acres of forest and organic garden.
The two rooms (two more are under construction) are impeccably neat and appealing, in earthy tones, with intriguing local art. Advance reservations are vital. It's 7km southeast of Mukki gate, right on the edge of the core zone. Going from Mukki gate, turn left at the cycle-repair shop, 2.8km after Chitvan Resort. They can organise taxi pick-ups from Jabalpur or Raipur (around ₹5000), Gondia train station (₹3500), Nagpur (₹7000) or Khatia (₹2000).
