For a really local and inexpensive experience, venture into this archetypal old-fashioned eating house serving excellent Bengali food eaten with the (right) hand at old stone-topped tables. Women are rare, some waiters walk around shoeless and the blackboard menu offers no explanations, so ideally bring a local friend. The entrance (up an unlikely stairway) is easily missed between shopfronts.
