A former maharaja’s guesthouse, built in 1921, this vast building has considerable old-world charm, including a 'birdcage' elevator and fine mosaic-tiled floors. The 'heritage classic' rooms are where you’ll feel the history, with their period furniture and shuttered windows overlooking landscaped gardens. However, it's all a little faded and under-patronised. Wi-fi is confined to the lobby and the restaurant's food needs improving.
The well-regarded Jungle Resorts and Lodges is now running the hotel, so maintenance and management may pick up.
