This friendly place, brilliantly run by a French-Indian family, is inconspicuously located on a bend of road between the castle and Roerich Museum. Its warren of spotless rooms range from shared-bathroom cheapies to duplexes perfect for families. Even cheaper rooms have comfy beds and a remarkable range of guest comforts including kettles, tea, coffee, reading lamps, hairdryers, towels and even cotton buds.
Excellent Indian and Continental food is available for guests (pre-order, mains ₹120 to ₹450), including local trout and a few specialities with a French touch. The library has books in numerous languages, there are plentiful sitting areas and staff are superhelpful with bookings and information on local walks.
