Up a lane near the Tsuglagkhang, Chonor House is an 18-room gem run by the Norbulingka Institute, whose wonderful handmade furnishings and fabrics are widely used. Most rooms have Tibetan themes that run from the carpets to the bedspreads to the murals. All have balconies and there's a tree-shaded garden restaurant.
