Ahmedabad (Amdavad)

In the heart of one of the old city's pols (micro-neighbourhoods), this beautifully restored 150-year-old Gujarati heritage home opposite a Jain temple has five individually decorated rooms. Agaashi, on the 2nd floor, has its own open-air terrace, whereas the Mahajan Suite is the most spacious. Terrific breakfast included. Not suitable for those with mobility difficulties, due to steep stairs.

It's vital to book ahead and provide an estimated time of arrival. You'll also likely need them to give you directions, as it's very hard to find.
