Mayallyang Homestay

Sikkim

One of Sikkim's most memorable getaways, Mayallyang is run by youthful host Gyatshe, an energetic anti-dam campaigner who sees homestays as an important part of sharing his message about ecological and cultural sustainability.

It's down nearly 100 steps from Passingdang's main street, set amid thick, fruit-filled foliage and ideal for watching butterflies, hiking to Lingthem or just lounging in the enchanting lounge-porch. However, be aware that while the half-timbered homestead has plenty of character, rooms are simple, beds are hard and the shared bathrooms are outside: intentionally so to preserve an authentic village vibe.
