Pindi

New Delhi

With its origins in the street food of Rawalpindi in present-day Pakistan, this now famous restaurant was opened in 1954 by 20-year-old Kasturi Lal Wadhwa, a street-food seller who was allotted a spot in Pandara Market as part of the Partition compensations. His menu soon expanded to include butter chicken, dhal makhani and tandoori chicken, all of which still feature.
