Banyan Grove

Assam

This luxurious, tastefully renovated tea-planter's bungalow, about 20km southwest of Jorhat, dates from the late 19th century and has seven large rooms crammed with antique-style furnishings, plus a drawing room straight out of a Victorian period drama. Its verandahs overlook manicured lawns with a fantastic two-century-old banyan tree. Tea-estate tours are ₹450/550/750 per person for gardens/factory/both, including tasting.

Banyan Grove is 10km down country lanes from a turning signed 'Kaziranga Golf Resort' on NH715 (old NH37), west of Jorhat.
