Karen conservationist couple Saw John and Naw Doris have opened their traditional wood-and-palm home to guests, with three no-frills but comfy fan-cooled rooms and a cottage, all featuring Andaman redwood furniture, filtered water and shared bathroom. Home-cooked meals feature spices, fruit, vegetables and rice from their organic plantation. The setting, among Webi's electric-green rice fields, is beautifully serene.
John (a key player in Wandoor's ANET) will take you on treks to see local wildlife, medicinal plants and Karen crafts, and has a good collection of Andamans-focused books.
