Hótel Skaftafell

Southeast Iceland

This is the closest hotel to Skaftafell; it's 5km east, at Freysnes, and one of very few hotels in the area so it's in hot demand – and prices reflect this. Its 63 rooms are neat and functional (and very overpriced) rather than luxurious; staff are helpful. There’s a decent restaurant (mains 3750kr to 5750kr) plating up local produce such as Arctic char and lamb fillet.
