Villa Cofrades

Top choice in Chichicastenango

This charming cafe is tucked into the outside corner of Centro Comercial Santo Tomás and is a gem if you want to step back from the bustle of the market but still get a view of the action outside. It's decorated with an eccentric eye – old typewriters, prints, cutlery installations and auction house catalogs.

The decor thankfully doesn't get in the way of the food. There are breakfast pancakes, sandwiches, cheese and bacon muffins and pesto potatoes to tempt, along with good coffee and palate-cleansing fruit juices.
