Posada San Miguel

El Petén

This amiably managed little lakefront hotel is on the incredibly idyllic Peninsula San Miguel, just a five-minute passage over from Flores by lancha (Q15, or free if you call 24 hours in advance). There's a section of rooms with orthopedic beds along a fabulous terrace with painted-wood lounge chairs. From the dock, head left and go round the bend.

A café prepares pescado blanco (whitefish) from the lake and other local specialties.
