If you really want to be close to town you could trade white sands for traffic and check out this well-known hotel on the main road between town and the lagoon. Rooms are smallish – bathrooms are miniscule – and a little dated but they're clean and have fair amenities for the price.

The road can be noisy, but the balconies on the upper floors offer good views of bobbing boats.
