On a vineyard spreading just north of Gengenbach, Pfeffer und Salz is an appealingly converted Black Forest farmhouse with pretty gardens, views and a playground. The rooms are light, contemporary and decorated in warm colours – and above all supremely peaceful. Wine tastings can be arranged. Half board costs an extra €21.
